Our Approach

CORE takes a holistic, bottom-up approach in its assistance of the vulnerable populations in Ongutoi. The organization is rooted in the community and thus, the community members (parents, grandparents, caretakers, relatives, and neighbors of the vulnerable children) prioritize the children’s needs and programs we deliver. This method of needs assessment has brought forth additional needs beyond our initial focus on education that if not addressed, would overshadow any benefit gained from the formal education being provided for.

Assessing needs and prioritizing program delivery in this way has transformed the organization from offering solely tuition payment to providing more comprehensive, holistic support to the vulnerable children for their entire well-being and development.

Although education consistently remains the central prioritized need, CORE delivers broad-based support providing a loving community for those in need. This philosophy provides a high degree of transparency in our operations, which is central to the trust that runs throughout our organizational function - from individual donors and institutional partners to our staff, the community members, and finally the vulnerable children themselves.
