CORE Uganda, creating opportunity in the Ongutoi community
Through multi-sector support activities, CORE Uganda (Creating Opportunities through Reaching Out and Education) works to address the needs of the most vulnerable in Ongutoi Village, Soroti, northeastern Uganda. Our work within the community has taught us that people are the primary axis of their own advancement, and as a result, we take a holistic, bottom-up approach, and are rooted in the community to understand needs and collaborate on solutions.
History - Due to the decades long civil war Uganda has gone through, life has been drastically affected, and although there is relative peace, many have been left traumatized and suffering from lack of basic resources.
The Need - Vulnerable in the community have traditionally lacked sustainable access to education, food, and clean water as well as psycho-social resources for former LRA abductees and HIV+ children.
We aim to set the community on the path of attaining sustainable socio-economic development through creating opportunities, reaching out, providing education for children and village support activities.
